Zac Brown Band — 2010 New Album

Zac Brown BandLast year, the Zac Brown Band burst on to music’s main stage, with the release of their double-platinum album, ‘The Foundation.’ Now, the Atlanta-based country rock ensemble is gearing up to release a highly anticipated follow-up to their major label debut, with a brand new album scheduled to drop on Sept. 21.

Titled ‘You Get What You Give,’ the new album reportedly features a mix of genre-bending songs that the group have been tinkering with while on the road last year. As frontman Zac Brown says, the new album “is representative of where we are right now. It combines elements of our southern rock and country roots, but also stays true to our jam-band style musicianship from the live show.”

Guitarist/keyboardist Coy Bowles echoed this sentiment back in March, when the Grammy Award-winning band was still choosing from some 50 songs to include on the album. “We still lean toward a Southern rock/country kind of thing, but there’s definitely radio-friendly stuff and still kind of an island, beachy vibe,” Coy told The Boot, “and then we go off the beaten path and get into a kind of jam-band world. So I think it’s going to be really representative of where we are right now.”

So far, a track list has not yet been released for the band’s new album, although the record will reportedly feature such diverse tracks as ‘Colder Weather,’ ‘Who Knows,’ and ‘As She’s Walking Away’ — all of which have been routinely played before enthusiastic audiences over the course of the past year. The band will also be embarking on a major tour this summer (tour dates here), and will be opening for the Dave Matthews Band on July 16 and 17 at New York’s Citi Field, and July 23 at Nationals Park, in Washington, D.C.

In addition to recording new tracks, the band has also been active supporters of US troops stationed overseas. As The Boot reports, the Zac Brown Band recently debuted part three of the documentary titled ‘Those Who Serve,’ which follows the group along their USO tour. The band has also been involved in the famous Lyrics for Letters campaign, which is an initiative striving to get one million people to write letters to military servicemen and women stationed abroad.
